Tiger Woods swing tempo is often overlooked, but it is one of the secrets to his consistency when he is at the top of his game. Further, it is the most likely the reason that it takes a while for him to incorporate swing changes into his game. Tiger’s ability to be in tune with his swing timing and rhythm (swing tempo) was the secret to his most dominating Master’s victory in 1997. Hey I did not say that – Tiger said that. After all, this was long before Tiger to switch between swing coaches in search of the perfect mechanics.

So what is the golf tip that I am trying to give you? Let me be plain so that there is no misunderstanding. Every

backswing , downswing , follow-through that Tiger Woods takes in his full golf swing , chips, and putting takes roughly the same amount of time. Now, let me temper my statement by saying that I am not referring to periods of time when Tiger is coming back from injuries or outside problems In other words, I am talking about when he has had time to play and practice and his game is sharp.

So, if your timing is the same you can get into a rhythm where you are constantly delivering the club to the ball in the manner you want to. In fact, Lee Elders, still playing and practicing golf at age 77, said that he always worked on tempo first to keep his game sharp.

Now, I could just tell you what Tiger does and ask you to take my word for it and incorporate consistent swing timing into your game. However, I would rather show and tell.
