Tiger Woods Draw Shot
Tiger Woods Draw Shot: If you ask Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus how to draw a golf ball you will get a different answers. Nonetheless, both answers would be correct.
Speaking specifically of Tiger’s draw shot method; it involves a change in your stance, swing path and release to hit the fade shot correctly. The instructions below work for both right handed and left hand golfers.
First, let’s talk aobut the change in your stance. Tiger sets up for a fade by closing his stance. In other words, his back foot is pulled in towards his body closer than his front foot. He sets up this way to encourage a more pronounced inside to out swing path.
This swing path is achieved because on the downswing, Woods swing path follows his closed foot alignment, which is inside to out. This swing path starts your golf ball flying to the right (if you are a right handed golfer) or to the left (if you are a left handed golfer). Additionally, the inside to out swing path also puts inside to out spin on the ball, which draws the ball back to the center of the fairway.
Third, Tiger begins the release of the club a split second before impact to prevent the club face from being open at impact. If the clubface is open at impact, the inside to out spin will be negated and your ball will never come back to the center of the fairway.
My opinion is that Tiger Woods draw shot method is great for those who are feel players and who will practice the techniwue alot. However, for most amateur golfer don't have the time to practice nor the natural feel to pull off this fade shot method consistently. After all, figuring out how closed your stance should be and how early you should release takes practice, feel and a good memory.
