Golf Fat Shots Cure Tips
(Fear of Contact)

Learn golf fat shots tips to stop hitting behind the ball with your irons and woods and make your real swing like your practice swing.

Why do I hit my iron shots fat? Do you ask yourself that? Are you one of the many golfers that take picture perfect practice swings with your irons with perfect divots only to hit your shots fat and possibly with off target divots on your real swing. Where did your perfect tempo go? Where did your on line swing go? What in the heck is going on in your head? How do you cure these fat shots?

It can be frustrating, I know. But, the great news is that I think I have an answer for many of you suffering from this problem. Below are two simple downswing thought tips that should have you putting that beautiful practice swing to work for your real golf swing.

Don’t get caught up in all the over analysis of what you are doing wrong on your downswing when you hit the ball fat. Why? Because you have already admitted that your practice swing is perfect. You know what to do when your mind is in the right place.

The over the top motion, breakdown in your spine angle, dipping of your head, reverse pivot, and/or loss of balance that leads to your golf fat shots are all caused by your swing thoughts.

You can be a good ball striker hitting the ball first ever time like you do on the range or with your practice swings. You just need to be put in a practice range / practice swing state of mind. And over analysis won’t get you there.

ALL RIGHT ALREADY! WHAT IS THE ANSWER? Well here it is.

When you are at the range practicing and especially when you are taking a practice swing, you are not worried about hitting the ball. You are just taking swing not worried about impact with the golf ball. However, the moment you put a golf ball down, you now have something to hit at. Further, when you are hitting a real shot during the round (as opposed to a practice swing) the pressure of immediate success or failure really puts your mind in a hitting state.

You get out of this by tricking your mind back into its practice swing framework. There are two mental tricks that I think can be successful for you. First, on your downswing, act as if the golf ball has disappeared and you are just swinging through the spot where the golf ball use to be. As a second possible trick, think of the golf ball as still there, but made of nothing but air that will disperse as your club passes through it.

Both downswing thoughts will take away the fear of impact and/or the need to hit at the ball. After that the fat shots and off line divots go away as well.

You see, the fear of impact causes you to go right hand dominate with your swing. Bracing for impact when hitting at the ball will do this every time. Once you take the left side out of the swing all sorts of problems can happen. The most obvious problem is bringing the club down in back of the ball because the left is no longer helping you to follow-though.

So there you have your golf fat shot cure to make your real swing like your practice swing.
