Golf Driver Practice For Breaking 80

Golf Driver Practice: This is a sub-article for How to Break 80 focused on how get your Driver in tune at the beginning of the season. Your golf driver practice shoul naturally begin before other areas of your golf practice because you can simulate the conditions of Driving the ball easier that with irons, chips shots, sand shots and putting. All you need is a tee and a heated driving range or an indoor driving range to practice with you Driver in the winter. Hitting irons, putting and chipping off and onto artificial surfaces does more damage to amateur golf swing that good many times. So now the question is what should you practice? Here are my top nine things you should practice and/or figure out.

  • Number 1: Practice with a glove and establish the grip pressure you will use with your Driver.

  • Number 2: Practice aligning your hands in accordance with the markings and/or wording on your grip.

  • Number 3: Practice setting up with and swing through with the hands the proper distance from your body.

  • Number 4: Practice having a sturdy frame and base with 60 to 70 percent of your weight on your back leg.

  • Number 5: Practice swinging within a sturdy frame where the back leg keeps the same flex in the backswing and the spin angle is maintained through impact.

  • Number 6: Practice setting-up and swinging with connected and relaxed arms.

  • Number 7: As you are swing the club back, make sure that you achieve wrist cock before you start your downswing.

  • Number 8: Practice a sweeping blow through the ball with your upper torso (shoulders and right ribs) rotating through the ball.

  • Number 9: Practice releasing your wrist cocking as you swing through the ball.

Eventually I will write the link articles for each of the tips above. However, I believe that you can figure out how to execute many of the tips above on your own. I say this because this article is written for those who can break 90 already, but who are looking to break 80 for the first time or more consistently. Also feel free to search for further explanations on these tips by searching the internet or this site. Once you get the tips above down for your driver you find that many of them will be helpful on you irons, chipping and putting as your practice continues towards breaking 80.

This practice can be accomplished in 4 to 5 days. These 4 or 5 days should not be spaced with more than three days between each training session.
